Bio

I am currently associate professor at the Department for Media and Culture Studies at Utrecht University.

I received my MA (cum laude) in Film and Television studies from Utrecht University in 1996. My MA thesis was awarded the Professor Doctor J.M. Peters Prize of 1997 (best MA thesis in Media and Audiovisual studies) and second prize in the Theodore Roosevelt American History Awards competition of the Roosevelt Study Centre (national competition for best MA theses in American Studies. In 1997 I became a PhD researcher at the Research Institute for History and Culture (OCG) at Utrecht University and in 2001 I was appointed as assistant professor at the Department for Media and Culture Studies. In November 2002 I defended my Ph.D. dissertation (cum laude). In 2008 I was appointed associate professor.
